Your property’s gutters are designed to catch the rainwater that runs from the roof and disperse it into appropriate drainage around your building. If your gutters are not maintained and cleaned regularly then debris, leaves and twigs can accumulate and cause blocked downpipes, this prevents rainwater from properly draining away. Ultimately, this can lead to leaking gutters that require gutter replacement.
It is not uncommon for gutters in to become damaged by clogged debris, leaks or severe weather conditions. If your gutters are broken and in need of gutter repair, then it is essential to get them fixed as soon as possible to prevent damage to your building. Leaving or ignoring broken gutters can cause damp and mould in your property as rainwater cannot be properly drained away and will instead build up and lead to damage.
Blocked Gutters & Down Pipes
If your gutters in are not regularly cleaned and well maintained, it can lead to blocked downpipes and guttering. When there is a blockage, it can cause leaking gutters, which means that rainwater is not being properly drained away from your building. Leaking gutters and blocked downpipes can result in major building issues such as damp and mould in your home.
Fascia & Soffit Cleaning
Fascias & soffits in can become dirty with a build up of dirt and grime, and this can have a big impact on the overall look of your property. If your once white fascias & soffits are now covered in dust, grime and dirt, it will leave your property looking old and worn. If fascias & soffits are not cleaned and maintained regularly, they can become permanently stained and require replacement.

To help our customers understand the gutter cleaning process, we have produced our step by step guide to the cleaning process:
1. Complete a full risk assessment of the property and work area in order to mitigate any known risks.
2. Set up our access equipment such as ladders, towers and cherry pickers. At this stage, we will ensure we are high enough above the gutters to properly clean them safely.
3. Remove any large pieces of debris such as leaves, broken tiles and twigs by hand. We do this process in stages, moving around the building to clear debris from all areas.
4. Where necessary we will use a gutter vac to clear blockages and clogs in the gutters and pipes.
5. Thoroughly clean all the guttering and pipes by hand to an impeccable standard, and so rainwater can drain freely.
6. Inspect all aspects of the guttering to identify any damage or issues. If any damage that requires repair is identified we will discuss gutter repair options with the customer.
7. Finish off cleaning and testing the gutters by flushing them through with water and checking all pipes are clear and draining away properly.
8. Lower and remove all of the access equipment safely and carefully.
9. Dispose of all the waste debris and materials removed from the guttering.
10. Supply the customer with a guarantee for the work completed.
What are gutters and why are they necessary?
Gutters are designed to catch rainwater that falls onto a building and drain it away from the property to prevent damage. Buildings without proper guttering can become waterlogged and have damp as rainwater cannot drain away.
When gutters are cleaned, are the downpipes cleaned as well?
When you choose J R Cleaning for gutter cleaning we will clean the entry from the gutter to the downpipe and ensure everything is in good working order. If gutters have not been cleaned for some time, the downpipe can become very blocked which requires further cleaning.
How are gutters cleaned?
We specialise in cleaning gutters by hand with the help of a gutter vac when necessary.
Why is gutter cleaning necessary?
Gutters will naturally collect debris, leaves, moss and branches over time. In order to keep your gutters working properly they need to be cleaned regularly to remove this debris and allow rainwater to drain away freely.
Are there various types of guttering?
Every building will have some kind of guttering, for a house are plastic gutters mounted just below the lowest roof point. For large, commercial buildings, there may be valley guttering between separate roofs of the same building. Guttering can be made from UPVC, cast iron, aluminium or even wood.
How often do gutters need cleaning?
For the majority of properties, getting the gutters cleaned once a year is enough. However, if many trees surround your property then you will need your gutters cleaned more regularly.
